Welcome

Hello and welcome to my website. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor providing individual and couple counseling services to adolescents and adults for over twenty-five years. I help people cope with stress, grief, depression, life stages and more to live a healthy, balanced life. In a caring therapeutic relationship we will work together on solutions for a more successful life. I can teach you scientifically supported skills to handle your life challenges more effectively, gain confidence through learning skills to resolve current problems and reduce troubling symptoms.

I am also a Certified Employee Assistance Professional, providing services to employers and employees of contracted businesses through EAP programs. Those services include: assessment, short term problem solving, and referrals, assisting when there is a traumatic situation or accident in the workplace by providing group or individual debriefing, also called Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). I also provide management consultation, training and drug and alcohol assessments through Employee Assistance Programs.

My training at the University of Washington and Seattle Pacific University was primarily focused in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy. CBT integrates thoughts, decision making and actions. Solution-focused therapy employs telling your story and focusing on your strengths and resources as we strategize solutions.

In the first session, I begin by reviewing my Disclosure Statement and Notice of Privacy Practices which describe how I provide services, my background, policies and answering questions you may have. Then I use the Intake Questionnaire to gather information. Together we define goals and make a plan for therapy. This usually includes activities to work on between sessions. Work in and out of sessions may include tasks, readings, affirmations and scripts, role playing and scaling questions which are used to both identify goals and progress.

My office is located in the Creative Workspace Building at 401 Olympia Avenue NE, Suite 326, Renton 98056. Access to my office is in the back of the building with a secure elevator. The elevator is called by entering my suite number 326 which then rings to my office to send you the elevator. The building has Vince’s Coffee Shop. The building faces 4th Avenue NE commonly called Cemetery Road. It is one block east of Renton Technical College and across the street from Greenwood Memorial Park. Free parking is available on the side street and behind the building. Overflow parking is available in the first 10 parking spots of Cedar Park Apartments, marked CWS, a half block walk from building. King County Metro Transit stops near my office.
